Pancake Party!

Happy Chuseok Day!  Chuseok is Korean Thanksgiving where families gather to share a meal together and pay respects to their ancestors.  Our school had Tuesday afternoon, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday off to accommodate for families traveling for the holiday.   Unfortunately, this break is not the best to travel since everyone else in the country is traveling, so my roommate and I threw a Pancake Party!!

The Last of the Pancakes!

Messiest Kitchen Ever!

To align with the theme of our lives here, we went international and creative with the type of pancakes we made!  We served the following type of pancakes: classic American, chocolate chip, Swedish, Finnish, German, pumpkin, potato, Korean, and my favorite- birthday cake!  When we sent out the invite, we requested that guests bring their favorite pancake topping! The toppings included: peanut butter, multiple kinds of syrup, various fruits, sprinkles, whipped cream, and many others I can't remember.  There were numerous combinations of pancakes and toppings to eat; it was awesome! It turned out better than I had expected and was delicious!

What truly made the event enjoyable was all the people who came.  There were some of my coworkers, fellow church members, and people from the Hospitality House (a ministry primarily serving the service men, women and families).  The balance between these three different groups was excellent.

Having each person there and knowing that there was a commonality between all of us, being followers of Christ, despite all the different reasons God brought us to Korea warmed my heart.  I anticipate the day when we will be worshipping our God altogether and with the rest of the world.  The 'body of Christ' is beautiful, and I feel blessed to have celebrated it today by eating pancakes with friends!

Prayer Requests:
- God to provide administration for our school.
- I started teaching K, 1, 2 Sunday School at church. Pray for more kids to come!
-Praise for getting new students at school!
