Teaching at PICS for a second year is wonderful. I am more confident in my teaching, know the material and standards more thoroughly, already know my students, and I am finally able to repeat a lesson from the previous year!
Being more solidified in the teaching aspect of my job, I am able to give more focus to the ministry aspect of being a missionary teacher. Already this year, I've had multiple mentoring conversations with students where I was able to share the gospel. Among these conversations, students have shared things they are struggling with. High school drama and emotions compounds the stress they experience. While my mind is blown about what is going on in my students' lives, my heart breaks for them. To honor confidentiality, I am not going to share more detail. Please understand, although without more explanation, that teenagers are carrying around more baggage than it appears.
In stark contrast to what I hear from my students, I am learning about the excellencies of Christ by studying Hebrews. This book focuses on Jesus being superior. In the first chapter alone there are at least seven descriptors of how glorious the nature and being of Christ is. He is the heir of God, creator of all things, same as God and purification for sins. Also he is radiant, keeps the universe from falling apart, and God's right-hand man. One day he will rule the world with uprightness. This brings so much hope while living in a terrible sinful world.
My job is to share this hope with those who have faced, are facing, or will face the struggles and repercussions of the sin in the world. Here's a little secret though, no matter if I were at PICS or not my duty to share hope is unchanging. It doesn't just apply to me either, if you are a Christian, you have the same responsibility! What an awesome calling, whether we work at a Christian school or not, whether we live in Korea or not, as Christians, we can always share Christ and the hope that He brings. Who do you know that is struggling with something in life and in need of hope? How will you respond today?
Please continue to pray for me and my ministry. Below are some requests and praises:
● Praise God we have hired a director for next school year!
● Pray that God gives us the strength, wisdom and perseverance to make it through the rest of this year without a director.
● Pray for guidance for myself and coworkers as we look ahead and figure out God's will for after the current school year ends.
● Pray for my student's salvation.

Your blog here is without a doubt confirmation from God about several things. First, my year-long quest to read the Bible through landed me in Hebrews yesterday. I echo your reaction to the first chapters of that book. Second, today's worship at Hamilton Street was centered around Christ as our hope and the only real meaning for life under the sun (see Ecclesiastes). And finally, as you so aptly say, it is all our honor and responsibility to share our Hope with the world around us. Spot on. Thank you for writing.
