Every Monday I have lunch duty and eat with my students. Last Monday, while sitting at the oddball table, one of my students, E*, told her friend that she had a secret to share. She made it pretty obvious that since I was sitting there, she wasn't going to say anything. I badgered her a little bit in good fun as I finished my food, then moved to another table to let them talk alone.
Today near the end of my lunch duty this week, I stopped by the same table again and had a seat. I asked E if she had any more exciting news to share. She didn't, but did decide to tell me what was going on last week.
The exciting news that she shared last week with her friend was that she decided to accept Christ into her heart!! E has called herself a Christian for awhile, ya know since she attends a Christian school, but realized that she really needed to give her whole life to Christ.
I asked E what has changed in her life in the past week since this new decision has been made. She was quick to tell me that she had better self-control to not get angry so fast (and is going to continue to work on it). She also mentioned that she feels a longing for her parents and little sister to know Christ too. She thinks they are religious, but doesn't know if they are actually saved. We continued our conversation (an extension of last week chapel, thanks Charlie) about what the life looks like of a believer versus the life of a nonbeliever.
E also told me that she wants to learn as much about God as she can while she is at our school, because it is a great opportunity! So encouraging that a student of ours does have a desire to learn and grow closer to Christ!
Praise the Lord for this new change in my student's life! There is one less lost sheep out there. Please join me and my staff as we pray for our students to continue mature spiritually and come to know Christ!
*I just used the letter E to maintain student confidentiality. (I'm not very sneaky though....) ;)
