On Wednesday I spoke at chapel. We have been going through the book of Colossians for the past few months. This week we focused on the Colossians 3:5-11. Go read it now!
Pretty exciting beginning, right? Talking all about sin and the bad things we do. I am so glad that the end of the passage is encouraging. In my talk today I started with the bad news that everyone sins, even Christians, and because of our sin the wrath of God is coming. Then I shared a personal story with my students about a time I've struggled with sin. I concluded the my speech with the good news that Christ is greater than all sin!
Waking up in the morning, I was super nervous. As soon as my students walked into the 'cafetorium', I felt my spirits lift and I became excited to preach to my students.
My reflection on how it went is positive. Most students stayed awake and seemed engaged in what I was saying. I think the personal story I shared with them hit home for a few students and was something that they could relate too.
Thanks for everyone who prayed for me or encouraged me as I prepared for chapel. Thank you for praying for my ministry here.
Please continue to pray that my students will want to grow in a real relationship with Christ. We are heading on a mission trip to the Philippines in one month over spring break; please pray for an impacting experience.
Here's a picture of me at chapel. This is probably the time of my job that I look most like a missionary, maybe?!
