Yes you heard that right folks, I'm coming home for the holidays! I will be arriving in St. Louis on Saturday night and staying until New Years Day.
As I am counting down the hours before I board the plane, I'm feeling all different kinds of emotions. I am excited and anxious and giddy and a little sad. I'm excited to see family and friends and be in a familiar place. But many things have changed in the 5 months I've been gone and I'm not sure how I will handle the expected and unexpected changes. It makes me giddy to think I'll be able to read signs and understand the language I'll be surrounded by. I'm a little sad to be missing the holiday festivities with my friends and coworkers here. Even though there are lots of mixed feelings, I think they are all justified in some way.
In the past two weeks as the semester comes to a close, I've been thinking a lot more about coming home. Here are some of the realizations that I've had this past week:
- I will be surrounded by mostly all white people who look like me...it'll be weird...
- I can go to Target and/or Walmart in three days!!
- My shower will actually drain at home. I'm so excited for this.
- I can sit by a fireplace on carpet!
- DRIVING
- When I shop for clothes, I can try them on before I purchase it! (And it is likely they'll be long enough)
- And many many others...
There are many things that I'm looking forward too, but just as many things that I can only do in Korea I'll miss for a few weeks.
I want to see people back at home, so contact me and we can plan a time to hang!! I can't wait to see friends and family!!
Love it! I'll miss you but look forward to hearing about it!
