Six days and 20 hours = finite. My time here is limited, and I'm grasping that more each day. The implication of this realization, for me, is a sense of urgency and a desire for closure. So, I have been 'RAFT-ing' like crazy!
RAFT-ing is the process one should go through when they are leaving or moving. RAFT stands for reconciliation, affirmation, farewells and thinking/talking. What I am learning though is that there isn't necessarily a definite end to RAFT-ing. Reconciling and affirming relationships are not things I will only do once in my life. In fact, I'm not sure I'll even be finished RAFT-ing when I enter into Lambert Airport in less than a week.
I want to remind others, moving across the world or staying safe at home, that time here is limited. I would bet most the Batman fans hadn't thought of that last night when they went out to see a movie. May God be with the families in Colorado. While you have the time, do you need to be thinking and talking about relationships with those you are (or once were) close to?
I love the song Good to Be Alive by Jason Gray. Below is a portion of the lyrics.
I wanna live like there's no tomorrow
Love like I'm on borrowed time
It's good to be alive
I won’t take it for granted
I won’t waste another second
All I want is to give you
A life well lived, to say “thank you”
Prayer Requests/Praises:
1. I need the Lord's strength for RAFT-ing. It's harder than I expected, and I can't do it on my own.
2. I praise the Lord for blessing me with wonderful friendships. There's much grief in saying goodbye because there's much love.
3. I thank God for getting my visa to me with ample time to spare!
